This paper focuses on a note on Africa and the world trade organization (WTO). The urgent need for the continent to play a more active role in the international trading system and in the WTO is also recognized, as duly reflected in the Tunis Declaration on the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations adopted in October 1993 and the Tunis Framework for Action for Implementation of the Uruguay Round Agreements by African Countries, adopted by the International Conference on the Uruguay Round and African Economies held in October 1994.
