Strengthening the organization: departmental self assessment

Abstract

The present Report is ECA's response to the request of the Secretary-General for each Department to undertake a critical self-assessment of its program and its activities with a view to making proposals for greater focus and cost effectiveness. An objective in this regard is also to align the activities of the Organization to the priorities of the Millennium Development Declaration. During the past few years, ECA has implemented a wide-ranging program to continuously reform itself, sharpen its focus on the key priorities in Africa's development, modernize its modes of operation, and strengthen its delivery capacity. The current self-assessment exercise builds on the gains of this reform program. The exercise has benefited from discussions within the Senior Management Team and with the staff at large at the level of the various divisions.
