The objective of the mission was to attend the "Regional Training Workshop on Gender Statistics" which was organized by Statistics Sweden and the Bureau of Statistics, Tanzania in cooperation with Central Statistics Office of Botswana and United Nations Statistical Division (UNSTAT).The Workshop was held at Oasis Motel, Tlokweng, Botswana from the 2nd to the 6th August 1993. This Workshop was part of a Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA) project on "Improving Gender Statistics in East, Central and Southern Africa". It was the first training workshop of national focal point on Gender Statistics to be organized in the region. A briefing on the Regional project was organized by the Eastern Africa Statistical Centre (EASTC) for Heads of National Statistical offices and held in Arusha, Tanzania on 29 April 1993.
