This paper focuses on the role of the private sector in energy development in Malawi. The Malawi economy is based on Agriculture. This sector directly generates approximately 40 percent of GDP and 77 percent of the national export earnings. The emphasis on agricultural production was considered vital in terms of both employment expansion and its direct and indirect impacts on other sectors of the economy.
