This paper has been prepared as a part of the pre-project activities of the proposed joint ECA/FAO Food and Agro-Industries Advisory Group for Africa with the main objective of resenting statistical data and other relevant information in the field of food and agro-industrial activities in various African countries. The activities have started with the West African sub region as a result of the ECA/FAO Project on Intra-regional cooperation and trade in the field of agriculture. (Phase II - West Africa) to be carried out by the joint ECA/FAO Agriculture Division. This paper is a first attempt to make an inventory of Ghana's food processing activities, the availability of needed raw material and her trade in processed food commodities with major markets of origin and destination.
