The First Meeting of Africa Regional Representatives of the United Nations family of Organizations was held in Accra, from 28 to 30 July 1967, at the offices of the FAO Regional Representative for Africa. It was noted that the geographical coverage of the regional structures of the five agencies was not uniform in all respects, ECA and ILO covered the whole of Africa, through their regional offices situated at Addis Ababa, while FAO, WHO and UNICEF had different arrangements, While ideally, it would be desirable to have regional and sub-regional offices established in the same locations, there were considerations which rendered such an arrangement difficult. It was necessary for practical arrangements to be made locally between the regional, zonal and country representatives for working relationships directed towards maximum coordination of activities,
