This document focuses on the tackling women’s poverty for economic growth and development in Africa. Women’s time does not belong to them. It is well known that patriarchal systems still prevailing in many regions of the world, including in Africa, have defined and perpetuated gender roles that allow men to control women’s time and labour. In most African societies, women and girls are allocated critically important and time-consuming responsibilities, which over-burden them with work in the reproduction, production, household and community spheres.
