The nautical charting program of the National Ocean Service (NOS) has developed new computer assisted compilation and engraving procedures. The Marine Chart Division (MCD) continues to expand automated charting processes and incorporates new technology into the production process. MCD is editing vector and raster graphics and is developing interface software. During the past two years, MCD has transitioned to a system that prepares all new paper chart editions using computer assisted production methods. This presentation includes the recent methods of computer-assisted cartography used in the compilation and production processes.
