A survey to assess the skill deficiencies in the eastern and
southern African subregion has been undertaken by the Lusaka-based
ECA/MULPOC. The survey was conducted at the request of the member
States and within the programme of work and priorities of the
MULPOC. It covered eight countries, namely: Botswana, Malawi,
Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The countries were chosen so as to include a broad spectrum of
characteristics of the national industries of the subregion.
