This paper is intended to provide brief comments on some of the methodological problems encountered in the development of, systems of current industrial statistics with particular reference to the conditions, encountered in African countries. An attempt has been made to emphasize .practical methods rather than theoretical objectives, but the guiding principles which should be observed in the collection, tabulation and publication of a satisfactory body of current data are also stressed.
