This document covers surveys of household budgets, consumption and nutrition. Budgets cover income, expenditure and household enterprises. Consumption surveys generally cover all the ground covered by budget surveys, plus consumption of home produce and other non-monetary transactions. Nutrition surveys, in that they attempt to measure food consumption are in principle-included in the programme of consumption surveys, but the term is usually applied only where particular attention is given to the weighing of food in some cases even after cooking.
