The seventh session of the Joint Conference of African Planners, Statisticians and Demographers was held at ECA headquarters, Addis Ababa, from 2 to 7 March 1992. The meeting was opened by Mr. Issa B.Y. Diallo, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Acting Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa. The session was attended by the representatives of the following member States of the Commission: Algeria, Benin, Botswana Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, the Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, the Sudan, Swaziland, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire, Zambia and Zimbabwe. There were representatives from the United Nations Department of Economics and Social Development (UN-DESD) which include, inter alia, the former United Nations Statistical office and the United Nations Department of Technical Co-operation for Development (DTCD).
