Zambia's hydro potential is mainly concentrated on the Zambezi River, which is shared with Rhodesia. The Kariba scheme, already partly developed, will have an ultimate installed capacity of 1605 MW and an annual production of 8.5 TWh. A further 60 m is being installed at Victoria Falls, and will raise the Zambezi's total producibility to about 8.8 TWh a year. For the Kafue scheme, six sites for a total capacity of 805 Mff were identified during a UITOP/FAO pre-investment survey.
