This document deals with the sub-regional meeting on economic co-operation in West Africa was held at Niamey (Niger) from 10 to 20 October 1966 in accordance with the decision taken at the seventh session of the Economic Commission for Africa and expressed in Resolution 142(VIl) recommending that the member States should set up at an early date at the sub-regional level inter-governmental- machinery responsible for the harmonization of economic and social development in the sub-region taking into account the experience of similar institutional arrangements inside and outside Africa
