Abstract
The report reviews the status of the 2020 round of population and housing censuses in Africa, highlighting the challenges and innovations during the census process. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, 39 out of 50 African States conducted their censuses, with many adopting digital technologies for enumeration and data transmission. The report details the support provided by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and partners, including capacity-building workshops, technical assistance, and the development of tools for census management and dissemination. It also outlines lessons learned and recommendations for the 2030 round of censuses.
